SALVAGE DRUMS FOR LOGISTICS

Tanks produces salvage drums for the containment and transport of drums damaged during handling and storage, in full safety and according to UN regulations.

Companies that deal with handling and logistics handle and store huge quantities of metal and plastic drums every day. With volumes like this, sooner or later, because of any type of accident, there will come a day when a damaged drum starts leaking hazardous material in a sorting centre. Tanks salvage drums make it possible to immediately contain drums so damaged to restore safety and allow you to move on to the next phases of solving the problem.

Logistics and drum damage

As part of daily operations in a logistics centre, the possibility of a damaged drum that starts leaking hazardous material is more than a risk, it is a regular problem. During handling, a collision or a fall from a forklift truck can easily cause the wall of a metal or plastic drum to break; similarly, it may happen to open a container and find that, during the travel, one or more drums have been damaged. In all these cases, priority must be the fastest possible solution for the spill, ideally carried out with the least possible waste of material; then, there will be a need to transfer the damaged drum, once the sender has been contacted, to one of three destinations:

In queste situazioni, la priorità è intervenire rapidamente per contenere lo sversamento, riducendo al minimo la dispersione di materiale. Successivamente, una volta avvisato il mittente, è necessario organizzare il trasferimento del fusto danneggiato verso una delle seguenti destinazioni:

  • the original destination, if agreements between the sender and the receiver so provide

  • the premises of the sender, if the latter has to collect the damaged drum

  • a disposal centre, if the sender decides that they have no interest in recovering the drum

In all three cases, therefore, the chosen solution must allow material containment and then moving the container and the technical equipment on site – a logistics centre – does not allow transfer in a new ordinary drum.
