The problem with decommissioning nuclear plants is not directly linked to containment bars or fissile material, which are normally taken and shipped to specific storage sites abroad, but to all those radioactive and hazardous materials that must be handled anyway. Difficulties arise every time when this radioactive waste was immediately amassed in metal drums when the plant was closed, but was not immediately disposed of properly and remained stored for a long time: this led to drum damage and corrosion, the drums are no longer reliable and must be placed, for safety reasons, in special and larger containers that guarantee an effective containment while waiting for a decisive action and allow both storage and handling.

Tanks salvage drums for decommissioning are the only ones in Italy to have the necessary ADR approval to offer the maximum safety guarantees for the containment of liquids and solids.
